Ratan Tata is a prominent Indian industrialist, philanthropist, and former chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, one of India’s largest and most diversified business conglomerates. He was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, into a Parsi family.

Ratan Tata joined the Tata Group in 1962 and worked his way up through the ranks, becoming chairman of the company in 1991. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded its business interests both in India and abroad, and he played a key role in the acquisition of several companies, including the Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus Group and the luxury car brands Jaguar and Land Rover.

Apart from his business accomplishments, Ratan Tata is also known for his philanthropy and social initiatives. He has set up various charitable trusts and foundations that work towards education, healthcare, and rural development. He has been awarded numerous honors for his contributions to business and society, including the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, and Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire.

Ratan Tata retired as the chairman of the Tata Group in 2012, but he continues to be actively involved in various philanthropic and social initiatives. He is widely regarded as one of India’s most respected and influential business leaders
